Nemzetközi hírű előadók a MySQL adatbázisról, Magyarországon

Hojtsy Gábor · 2003. Május. 5. (H), 19.24

A találkozó 17 órakor kezdődik a PHP konferencia helyszínét is biztosító ELTE Radnóti Miklós Gyakorlóiskolában. Az előadásokkal kapcsolatban bármilyen kérdést a mysql##kukac##phpconf.hu címen fogadunk.

Bővebben az előadásokról és az előadókról:

The State of the Dolphin

MySQL co-founder David Axmark will give a broad overview of MySQL and MySQL AB, the Swedish company who develops and markets the MySQL database.

He will discuss the state of MySQL development and will show the new features introduced in MySQL 4.1 and MySQL 5.0. These features include sub-queries, prepared statements, Unicode support and stored procedures.

He will also talk about how the project has grown from its roots as a part-time two-man venture into one of open source's success stories.

David Axmark is one of the founders of MySQL and has spent a lot of time on the MySQL docs and build/install system. He has worked as a programmer for over 15 years, and has written many lines of code in 6502 and Z80 assembler, BASIC, C, CommonLisp, shell and Perl. Axmark lives in an airplane, but occasionally returns to his home in Uppsala, Sweden to visit his computers and plants. Hobbies include hiking, ultimate, discgolf and porting Emacs to obscure OSs.

Managing and Protecting Sensitive Data (with MySQL and PHP)

Applications that collect, store and manage sensitive data are attractive targets for unethical employees and profit-motivated crackers. In web-evironments, these applications are generally 'protected' by restricting access to the systems that they reside on. This strategy does not address the real problems surrounding the storage of sensitive data - the issue of protecting the data, rather than just restricting access to it. By focusing on protecting the data, instead of the application, we can reduce or eliminate the damage done when the application is compromised or access to it is abused. This short tutorial teaches the attendee how to create PHP/MySQL applications that use combinations of cryptographic mechanisms, lossy data storage, quantization and good old-fashioned misdirection to protect the security and privacy of their users.

Zak Greant is an author and developer who works as a Free/Open Source Software community advocate for MySQL AB. Past projects include the PHP Functions Essential Reference, editing of numerous PHP/PHP-related books, and contributions to the PHP project. He is also a regular conference speaker on all sorts of events connected to PHP, MySQL and Open Source.
