Site News:
New Layout/Site Design Posted!
Jun 12, 2005 @ 22:06:56

So, if you're seeing this, then you've noticed something just a little different around here - we've changed a few things to help make PHPDeveloper.org a better site not only for those seeking to find the most up-to-date PHP-related news, but also be a better resource for the community.

A few other things besides the look have changed around here as well:

  • User comments now require a login - but only if you want to use your name on it. You can still leave comments without an account, but they will be posted at "Anonymous". When you have registered, you'll see that you're now able to edit the comments that you've made (from here on out).
  • The "releases" and "submit news" forms will work correctly now. There were just too many issues to tackle all at once to get the previous forms working on the old site, so, with this new rework all should be well.
  • There will be some new features showing up around in the news in the near future. We already have code in place to make an automatic posting of the week's PEAR releases, the PECL releases, and, of course, of the user-submitted releases for each week. Hopefully, this will help the community keep more on top of the releases of their favorite packages.

We're still fine-tuning a few things around here, so if you load the page up and happen to get a bit of an error, reload it and it will be taken care of in a flash.

Also, for those curious about what kind of technology this site is running on, there will be a package release of the code behind it within this next week - so keep your eyes out for that...As always, suggestions, comments, and ideas for new features that can help the sitye grow are always welcome - and if you're looking to get involved, we're still actively looking for news editors/reporters on a volunteer basis to help out around here....
